ABOUT THE MOVIE
In 1978, director Edouard Molinaro released the iconic French-Italian film “La Cage aux Folles”. Based on a popular play, the film follows the lives of Georges and Albin, a gay couple who run a drag cabaret in Saint-Tropez. When Georges’ son announces his engagement to the daughter of a conservative politician, chaos ensues as they try to hide their unconventional lifestyle and present a more “traditional” family dynamic. The film was groundbreaking for its representation of LGBT characters and themes, and went on to inspire numerous adaptations and sequels. With its witty humor and heartfelt performances, “La Cage aux Folles” remains a beloved classic of queer cinema. Stars Ugo Tognazzi, Michel Serrault, and Claire Maurier.
