The Pagans (original title: Il Sacco di Roma, USA re-issue title: The Barbarians) is a 1953 Italian historical drama film directed by Ferruccio Cerio. Set in Rome during the 1527 Sack of Rome, the film tells the story of the events that led to the invasion and pillaging of the city by the German Landsknechts and the mutiny of the unpaid troops of Emperor Charles V. The film features a stellar cast, including Rossano Brazzi, Leonora Ruffo, and Franco Interlenghi, and was praised for its realistic depiction of the horrors of war and its powerful performances.
